So the other day, I was looking for some information in an email from a while back and I had to do a specific word search.. This search brought up every email which contained the word and so I casually began to sift thru the emails when low and behold I stumbled upon an email from an old high school boyfriend.

DUN DUN DUUUUN!!! (Dramatic Sound Effect)

Y’all…. when I tell you I luv-hed him… I L-U-V-H-E-D him. You know the kind of teenage love where you just couldn’t wait to put on his letterman jacket because you just knew it meant you were his. The butterflies that would flutter in your stomach every time you held hands. The looks and smirks he gave you when you were in the stands watching him play ball. Your families got along and everyone just believed you were perfect for each other. At 16, my life could not get any better! I was in love with the greatest guy in the world.

I would pray for He and I at night because I just knew this is who I wanted to be with and based on how much our friends and family gushed over us, I believed he was it! Geovona Maria had found her prince charming!

Until one day it was over.

I was CRUSHED. How was I ever going to find anyone now? He was perfect.  Now what?

Life was over.

*Back to the emails*

Sooooo naturally, when I saw his name in the email I had a thought “Why don’t I Google him?”

I mean, isn’t that what everyone would do? *insert nervous laugh*

So, I opened a browser and typed in his whole name and last known location. And by the power of technology in .66 seconds BAM!

I was officially staring at a photograph of this boy, now man, I had devoted a part of my life to. The emotions were overwhelming. Not just from seeing the changes we both have gone thru physically– I mean from 1997 to 2017 a lot changes– but my soul immediately felt this sense of God’s protection like everything I thought I wanted or believed I needed wasn’t really the truth. God has something better. My soul recognized the blessing in protecting me from myself and I.

Here’s the breakdown:

We pray and pray for relationships, and often times that praying turns into begging. Our prayers are often shaped with a lot of “God if you just bless me with [BLANK] I promise I won’t [BLANK]” or “God I just need you to do this one thing”. We will go to prophets and pastors just hoping to hear a Word from God. We beg for a “sign” looking for anything and everything just to make our love lives go our way. I have prayed my fair share of these prayers. I have tried to negotiate with God, plead with Him and even manipulate Him. Here is the blessing…God #blocked every one of these prayers for my good! The reality is, God doesn’t want us to beg and plead. He desires a true relationship with us. He wants our hearts to be sincere for HIS will and trust that His will for our lives is good!

God’s timing is not usually our own and the beauty of God is that he has already been in our tomorrow. He already knows.. It’s already written BY HIM! And IT IS AWESOME!

You have to walk with Him. Talk with Him. Trust Trust Trust Trust Him.

  1. Firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.

In Isaiah 26:3-4 Amplified Bible states:

3 “You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both inclination and character], Because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation]. 4 Trust [confidently] in the Lord forever [He is your fortress, your shield, your banner], For the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages].”

This means God will keep us in a perpetual state of peace when we commit with our full selves to him and then confidently sit back and rest in the truth that He is in full control because He is the Rock of Ages aka He is yesterday, today and forever!

Today, I am thankful God Blocked It!
